The Hunterdon Half takes place in gorgeous Hunterdon County, NJ. The swim is in pristine Round Valley reservoir, the bike ride travels through NJ's "farm country" and along the Delaware River, then most of the run course travels right next to reservoir, so you will be ensured some great views to take your mind off the pain!




Is this the same as Belly of the Beast?  In 2009, I volunteered for NJ Multisport to help produce the Belly of the Beast Half, mainly to help the Heffernan family continue to run the event on Ian's behalf. The event had a lot of potential, but encountered some logistical issues that caused problems on race day.  I've spent a lot of time with park police and staff to see if we could iron out some of the kinks and produce an entirely new event.  After months of work, we're proud to present the Hunterdon Half Iron Triathlon.

If you liked last year's race, you'll love the improvements we've made:
  • There will be ONE transition area, so you will not be required to set up a separate T2 in another lot.
  • The 1.2 mile swim loop will stay closer to the shoreline, which we hope will be calmer than swimming far out into the reservoir.
  • The bike will travel clockwise, which will reduce left turns and eliminate the steep descent into Frenchtown
  • The scenic (but narrow and windy) road next to the reservoir (County Road 629) on the run course will be closed to traffic
With many other additions and improvements to this event, we expect that it will become a legendary race in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  We will be keeping this year's event small to ensure a quality experience for all.

Refund Policy:
Athletes may request a partial deferral by submitting an email request prior to August 30, 2011. Approved requests will receive a credit of 50% of your race entry fee that can be applied toward another PACE Racing race. You can use this credit until the end of the following race season. After August 30, 2011 all entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Event is rain or shine. No refunds will be issued in the event of the race being modified or canceled due to any act of nature (though we will make any and all attempts to ensure this does not happen).
